Now that we've gotten the big name cards out of the way, let's get to some of the nuts and bolts of this set. This set of spoilers will include only common level cards, but since they're commons, I'll give you a big chunk of them, separated by color.
We'll start with a narrow, very white effect. Taking care of enchantments and artifacts is right in the wheelhouse of white's slice of the color pie. The one hesitation I had with these cards was the mana cost, but the fact that they can handle both artifacts and enchantments combined with the fact that artifacts are a prominent part of this set makes them both more suitable for a main deck than they would be in a core set, so I'm comfortable with the price.
And I love my flavor text on Mechanical Autopsy.
I really like the flavor of Data Mining. I wish I could've gotten a slightly crisper picture, but it's the best picture of someone with a PC from the Mega Man universe that I could find. I knew I wanted to include a few cards that helped with a potential mill plan, and while I don't think I ended up creating that kind of deck, every set has to have cards like that. Discovered Cache was initially a tweak of Divination, but I decided to make it more of a stretch play. Once again, it might be a little over-costed, but I think the option is worth an extra colorless mana.
My first functional reprint, I actually made Beyond Plant Capacity before I ever played with Altar's Reap. The fact that it's been printed recently by Wizards only makes me feel better about my creation. Magnetization was a slight twist on Mark of the Vampire. The same CMC, but since I think power is even more valuable with lifelink, I gave it an extra colored mana. Still very playable, I think.
Another pair of cards that fill necessary niches for the color pie. My set actually has a couple of ways for red to destroy artifacts/equipment, but I decided to juice up Demolish/Stone Rain, and the result was Clobber. Mega Man's Rallying Cry is the standard attacker pump that red gets in every set. This one is customized to benefit equipped creatures. Spoiler spoiler alert: there's going to be a lot of equipment in this set.
Bypasser's instincts started as a blue unblockable card, but as time wore on and the set came together, this just worked better. Again, custom flavor text. Mecha Monkey fills the normal niche of "big green creature with trample" that's been filled admirably in the past by Spiked Baloth and Groundshaker Sliver. At different times, I felt Mecha Monkey was both over-costed and under-costed, so I feel like it's probably right on. A 5/5 for 5 feels about right for green.
That's all for this installment of spoilers. I haven't decided what the next reveal will include, so I can't spoil the spoilers for you. You'll just have to stay tuned.
